Merasa nama baik dan kehormatannya dicemarkan, ia memilih menempuh jalur hukum dengan menyerahkan sejumlah bukti berupa tangkapan layar unggahan yang dipersoalkan kepada penyidik Polres Solok.

“Kami ingin membuktikan apakah penegakan hukum, khususnya terkait Undang-Undang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik (ITE), benar-benar dapat ditegakkan. Jika tidak, maka tindakan pencemaran nama baik dan penyebaran tuduhan tanpa dasar akan terus terjadi dan merugikan masyarakat,” tegas Syafri Tanjung usai membuat laporan.

Dalam laporannya, Syafri meminta aparat penegak hukum menindaklanjuti dugaan pelanggaran sebagaimana diatur dalam Pasal 27A juncto Pasal 45 ayat (4) Undang-Undang Nomor 1 Tahun 2024 tentang Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik (ITE), serta Pasal 433 dan Pasal 434 Undang-Undang Nomor 1 Tahun 2023 tentang Kitab Undang-Undang Hukum Pidana (KUHP) yang mengatur tentang pencemaran nama baik dan fitnah.
